Come join EAA Chapter 811 for our Ovid summer gathering. Let's gather at 5:30 to talk about all the places we've been over this busy summer.
If you've never been to the Ovid airport, it's the perfect spot for a fly (and drive)-in party; nice runway, good grassy area and our friendly hosts, the Kings.
We will bring some meat and buns and if you could bring a dish to pass, salads would be great, oh and some drinks!
If you fly in, ***please watch for other planes***, use 122.8 - here's the info: http://www.airnav.com/airport/D82
Being an operational jump school, here's a note from our host, John King:
For anyone flying in, they can turn right after after the taxi way and park on the south end of the pavement or taxi up onto the grass south of the apron, it is pretty smooth, or taxi in and bear left at the fuel tank and park on the grass between the hangars.
Please don’t block the taxi way, fuel tanks or apron north of the taxi way. We may still be jumping and will need access to the fuel tank and north apron.
Thanks
Driving? Ovid airport is easy to find and a nice drive -
Just head out of the west side of Ithaca going toward Ovid (Rochester) on RT 96 (that's on the west side of the lake)
After around 30 minutes - turn left on County Road 139 west at the Happy Landing gas station
Keep going straight as you transition to Parish road (don't stay on 139 as it curves to the right)
You will see the runway on your left - head slowly up the drive and you're there!
