East Hill is known for our well kept equipment. In order to keep our maintenance up to a good standard the board has decided to raise rates on aircraft and instructors $1.00 an hour each. We still strive to keep flying as close to cost as possible, but safety comes first.
Congratulations to Skylar Carfi on earning his private pilot certificate. DPE David St. George said "it was a solid check ride" which is a pretty high bar to clear. Skylar is leaving us to take a job in Va., we wish him well in his future endeavors.
AOPA is offering scholarships to High School students between the age of 15 and 18, and also offering scholarships for anyone 16 and older (no maximum). The scholarships range from $2500-$5000. Additional information available here. Apply today
AOPA is asking Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas to accept the BasicMed for pilots flying into there countries from the US. The new BasicMed goes into effect May 1, but unless something changes, Pilots will not be allowed into these three countries if they don't have a full medical certificate.

The Average American will move over 10 times in their lifetime. The FAA requires that you notify them within 30 days of moving, or you are not permitted to be Pilot In Command. See the AOPA guidance to update your address if necessary. AOPA Link
Our mechanic David Jones has been busy. He is thoroughly going over our Travel Air, getting it safe and ready for extensive use. He also conducted a 100 hr inspection on 53045, painted the rudder (finally) and installed new glare shield.
Member Dan Asselin has achieved the gold standard at East Hill, an instrument qualified Mooney Pilot. Multi Engine rating next, so he can forget all that Cornell education and fly for the regionals.
This transponder supports both ADS-B in and out, which means pilots will receive traffic alerts on the Garmin GNS430W, the Aspen EFIS, and if the pilot paired their iPad with the GTX345 via Bluetooth, on their iPad app such as ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot. NEXRAD weather is also delivered via ADS-B, and can be viewed on the GNS430W or a paired iPad with a compatible app.
